In the hills around Lucca in Tuscany, a house that stands as a habitable element in continuity with the colors and materials of nature. Built according to modern criteria of efficiency and energy savings, the project, experimental and innovative, reconstructs an agricultural ruin without hiding its declared contemporary figure.
Olive trees, stone and white marble, characterize the landscape of the hill on which stands this new home-study Michel and Donia Boucquillon (Michel – author of the 1988 European Parliament building in Brussels) wanted their headquarters and life away from the city. A ‘back to nature’, but not reducible to the rediscovery of the vernacular architecture and the size of the country as a waiver of contemporary reality and the ‘need’ to be modern.
