JOINT Cafe & Workspace by 56thStudio

Joint Café & Workspace is located on the 12th floor of the Asia Hotel parking building right next to BTS Ratchathewi. Unlike some of the other houses-turned-workspaces, Joint boasts a beautiful clean design courtesy of hip design house 56th Studio that gives it the feeling of a proper (yet stylish) office. Playful details like table tennis nets separating individual work tables add some home comfort, too.

Dental Angels by YLAB Arquitectos

Brand image and interior design project for the dental office Dental Angels in Barcelona’s central Ensanche Neighborhood, in a small and narrow space at street level. The owner, a young doctor, wanted to create a modern and functional clinic that reflects the charm and pleasantness suggested by its name: Dental Angels.

The aims of the project were to achieve a differentiating image, elegant while accessible, professional and fresh. The spaces had to be wide and bright and the ambience warm and comfortable. For this purpose, an organic distribution was proposed were all the functions would be placed in a unique continuous space that would suggest dynamism and a spacious feel.

White color was chosen as a base color, adding gold and light blue accents by corporative elements like the golden signs, elements like the cylindrical displays or the RGB LED linear indirect light. Timeless materials or finishes like white satin lacquer, laminated panels for the clinical furniture or light linoleum for the pavements are used, combined with surfaces that add lightness and warmth like the gold aluminium or the walnut. Light colors, curved shapes and the indirect lighting which goes through all the areas, convey the sensation of calm and balance both for patients and medical staff.

Elasticity by Fabrice Le Nezet

Visual artist and designer Fabrice Le Nezet has created Elasticity, a sculpture series that has been installed at Dalston Junction Station in London. The objective was to “materialize” tension, to make the notion of weight and stretch palpable. Physical representation of the idea of Elasticity. Massive and abstract metal structures support large blocks of concrete that give a feeling of force and tension while being static. Metal is used as a flexible material, as if the structures were made of elastic or metal spring. This creates a contrast between the real properties of the materials and the way they are perceived.

HANDS Corporation Headquarters by The System Lab

The new Hands Corporation Headquarters – designed by The System Lab – is a relatively small-scale office building that not only brings a fluid expression to the streetscape but also provides its users with a more stimulating workspace.

‘The client basically wanted an architectural expression which is common but refreshing. He also expected us to offer a unique and architectural construction method after experiencing our earlier projects,’ the architects from The Systems Lab say. This wish resulted in an undulating façade – a relatively simple manipulation of the constructive grid. The waves mirror each other, simplifying the engineering required for the steel split-mould. ‘The design code for Korean cities is targeted at individual development rather than mandating a shared façade appearance and creating new context for the city,’ the architects add.
